00:08 Welcome to Six-Figure Trucker, the podcast where we share advice on how to be successful in trucking and have fun while doing so. We’ll share stories, news, and advice on how to earn six figures in trucking, and we’ll speak to guys and gals that are already doing so.

00:23 Let’s get to the show. Hello everyone and welcome to the Six-Figure Trucker brought to you by Norton Transport. And you know, if you join us each and every week, this is a format where we elevate and celebrate the drivers that make our company what it is. We also like to kind of peel the curtain back and see what the drivers are all about, kind of find out what they are as people because, you know, we see them as employees, but we want to find out what they do when they’re not behind the wheel. And joining us now is Sherrod Henry, and if you notice behind Sherrod, there’s a big elephant there. Sherrod, how are you, and tell us about the elephant.

00:58 Yes, sir. I’m doing great. I’m doing great, man. South Alabama, hanging out, man. I’m here with the Six-Figure Trucker, Mr. John, so I thank you for having me out here. The elephant behind me is my podcast. I’m podcaster. I’m Elephant in the Room out of the Wiregrass, and that’s what I do. That’s my main platform. I’m on every platform. Elephant in Room, e l three p h a n t in the room. You can find me. I’m podcasting all the time.

01:28 How long have you been doing the podcast? How long have you been behind the mic?

01:32 Man it was a year April.

01:36 A year in April?

01:37 Year in April.

01:38 And you were telling me when we were off air, not recording, but you built up quite an audience.

01:44 Man, super audience, super fast. I didn’t know it was going to do this. You know, my mom got an attitude with me. I feel like I said, “The plus button is for free. All you got to do is press it and it turned into 20,000 almost all platforms. So,”

02:07 What made you decide to jump into it? Was there anything specific that said, “Hey man, I want to do a podcast?”

02:13 Well, I was with an individual who said it to me and was like, “I want to do a podcast.” And I was like, “Okay, I’m going to order this stuff. We’re going to do a podcast.” So, I got the stuff. And when I brought the stuff, I was like, “Okay, let’s sit down and do a podcast.” He was like, “No, I don’t want to do it. That’s for me.” And I was like, “Cool. Okay, then. I love to talk.” We set the camera up and I was just doing it with everybody, anybody that would sit down and talk to me at the time. And then, cuz I music, so I own Big South Entertainment, too, in Atlanta. And I grew up with the music. I got plenty of videos on YouTube, as well. So, the entertainment in front of the camera was not a big thing for me. That’s what I love. But then, when I came to Alabama, stopped for about 7, 8 years. Then, when that was mentioned back to me, it was like it lit a light bulb up for me and I took off from there. I met Nienie. Nienie got everything together for me, organized, making sure that I take vocabulary.

03:16 I do I’m in school still. She has me learning every day. And it’s just it’s great for me. It’s—

03:25 Now, Nienie is your— She’s your girlfriend and your producer?

03:28 Yes. Yes. Yes, she is. So—

03:31 She’s handing I’m sure she’s involved quite a bit.

03:34 Oh, man. She does everything like as far as my planning like with Norton. She makes sure my VOs are printed out. Make sure where I’m going to be at this time. She’s always checking, make sure cars are in place. You know, she double checks everything for me. You know, make sure I sign. Just make sure I’m focused, keep my head up and ready to open the doors that I’m presented to go into.

04:03 Got you. You’re listening to Sherrod Henry on the Six-Figure Trucker brought to you by Norton Transport, and you notice that he mentioned his podcast Elephant in the Room. Now, we were talking or you I wanted to touch on a little bit about the music. Do you talk about music on your podcast?

04:19 Oh, yes. I have a couple artists— Well, I have Young Ralph from Atlanta. He’s a big artist from out of Atlanta underground but mainstream as well. On my podcast, also I had Gas House Music fly in from Miami, Florida and came in— Well, West Palm Beach, and they came in and they did a show actually in Dalton and they came and did a podcast. So, I touch on everything. Elephant in the Room is about we’re talking about things that people don’t really want to talk about. So, it’s all about just expressing what nobody really Joe Rogan on my side of the field. You know what I mean? So, this is what we doing. And I give a platform for everybody to come on and I talk about positive. I always push positive regardless because it can be any situation with Elephant in the Room. But, in that situation, I bring the positivity out of it. Something for everybody to take from it to be able to use in real life, everyday life.

05:22 You know what I mean? Cuz I don’t have my journey, you know? So, nobody never gave me this. So, I’m giving this to everybody else. It’s not for me. It’s for everybody. You understand what I’m saying?

05:35 Right. You know, you were talking about the you know, the elephant in the room, some of the tough topics that people don’t want to talk about. And you mentioned politics, music. What’s another one? I mean, have you had a guest that really sticks out that really peeled the onion and talked about some things that are critical but people just don’t want to talk about them.

05:54 I got a whole new episode just getting ready to come out. My friend he just was hit by a car 2 years ago. He was dead for like what? 6 months, 8 months. When I just got a— He’s— He was just walking up the street with me up and down the street with me just talking seemed like yesterday. And I called and then I found out he’s paralyzed. He had somebody hit him and drove him three 30 what? 300 ft down the street and the person that hit him was a guy he just talked to. I just talked to you. I just left from talking to you. And you hit me. Broke his neck. It’s crazy. But what I’m talking about is consciousness. We have so much going on in this world. You know, you talked about the UFO files being released with Donald Trump, you know. The story that the narrative that they gave was not what it really is.

06:57 So, the truth is coming out and I said to him I said you died. For this long I said what did you see? You know, a lot of people tell you oh I seen the light. I seen this. I seen that. Bro, I didn’t see nothing. I didn’t see nothing. I don’t— You say when I woke up it came to me it was just a smell. I smelled a sewer smell. He say as far as seeing anything he said bro, I don’t believe that. That just is far as how far you believe. He say man, I was gone. He say I didn’t see no light. You know, and this is real and this for me as well. Person that’s scared of death. How many people are scared of death? So, I try to get close to people to that been there to be like, “Bro, what happened? Did you know, I got friends that shot at them out.” And he died for a couple days and it’s like, “Bro, what you seen? Who hollered out to— What was the name that you” And it was different for everybody.

08:00 I’ve never had any— That’s the difference, too. I’m dealing with people that’s not religious based. And it their family are I mean, you know, you want they grew up in it and all this stuff. But they’re not religious based. And then they’re telling me, “Bro, I was just dead.” You know what I mean? So, I don’t been around old people and old people that are dementia and they’re dying. We know they’re dying and they see stuff. You know, you see them wander off and they look up and they see stuff. And you’re like, “What are you” You know, and they’ll say, “Listen, I don’t know what that is, what realm that is that they’re— You know, but like I said, we’re just trying to connect. We’re just trying to give a sense out to people that they don’t know. You know, so you know, that’s the secret. That’s something that we don’t know. They know everything else. They know everything. How you going to die? Why you doing that? Or you know your heart your high blood pressure and you got this, but you still don’t know what’s after this.”

09:02 And that’s the scariest thing. My kids, what do I tell you then? You know, my son my stepson just asked me the other day. He was like, “What is death? Like, what happens after” I can’t give you an answer. But then you want me to put the book in your life and say, “No, read the book.” The book don’t tell him what he wants. Just like me, you know, and just like the real people who really want to tell these people about it. But people don’t want to tell the truth.

09:32 Right. Right. Now, we were talking. I mean, nothing’s out of bounds and think if I got my numbers right, you’re 45, is that right? Got a birthday coming up?

09:40 Well, birthday just passed two Sundays ago.

09:43 Just passed. Okay, just passed. I got you. Now, we were talking a little bit on the personal side there. You’ve seen some good times and some bad times.

09:51 Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I had my To get where I’m at, I had rough road. I fell down a lot of time, you know. But out of all that falling there’s still a way. That’s what I want. The ones that think, “Oh, it’s just I can’t. It’s always something.” It’s— It is always something, but there always— There’s a way. Don’t tell me that.

10:21 You were sharing with me it’s about 15 years ago and you were on the floor crying because you didn’t think things were going to turn around, but thankfully they have.

10:33 They have and it does turn around. It does turn around. You have to believe in you. You have to believe in you. I can’t give no more I mean, I could tell you to believe in this and believe in that, but it starts with you and it turned around for me and things are great. Things are growing. Things are advancing for me. More opportunity is coming. Look at this opportunity right here with me being on Six-Figure Trucker Podcast with you. This is great opportunity for me cuz I’m always doing this for somebody else. So, it’s for somebody else to come and just talk to me is great.

11:16 Let’s talk about that a little bit, your positive outlook on life and believing in yourself. How much does that help you in driveaway?

11:25 Ooh. Believing in myself with driveaway it keeps me safe. It keeps me focused. It keeps me planning to make everything need to work for me. That came with believing in myself because without believing in myself, it wouldn’t have worked like that. It takes believing in you to be safe. It takes believing in you to be focused. You know what I mean? It takes that cuz you can believe in everything else and that’s not going to keep you safe. That’s not going to focus. That’s going to keep you down whatever else. Focus, safe buys you but you risk everything else.

12:08 Now, being based down there in Dothan, Alabama, sports are big there and you were telling me you have some sports figures who come on your show.

12:16 Yes, yes, yes. So, I’m working on my episode with Steve McClendon. He’s going to come on my show. We’re working on trying to get time together so we can get there and get that worked out. My friend is cousin with Alex Wright. I missed I had missed his event that’s in Elba every year because I was scared of the camera at first. You know what I mean? So, I’ve been invited and I was just scared of the camera but this year we’re showing up with Alex Wright out there in Elba. Steve McClendon, we’re going to have him on there because you know he just got the head coach of Carver High School. So, he’s here in Ozark, you know, which is 25 miles from me. So, we’re looking to talk to him because there’s things that I want to know that kids need to know that they’re not asking questions.

13:02 So, I want to make sure I’m able to ask the questions that the kids need to know because everybody want to play sports. Everybody want to get there. But when was it the time when you took it serious to get there? You know what I mean?

13:15 No, I got you. I got you. Now, people want to join in and watch your podcast, how do they do that to go What formats are you on? What platforms are you on?

13:22 Okay, I’m on Tik Tok. I’m on Instagram. I’m on Facebook, I’m on Threads, I’m on Spotify, and I’m on Audacity. It’s Elephant in the Room. Make sure it’s E L 3, not E L E, E L 3 P H A N T in the room. Make sure you tap in, listen. We have episodes. I know we have a new episode every 2 weeks. I got a real steady going. So, you can catch me on everything. I mean, and if you have something to say, you want to step in, you want to talk to me, ask some questions, you want to come on the show, it’s open. Just you know, our virtual too at the same time as well.
