EP47: Killin’ it with Kindness with Abdur Martin

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” This saying rings true in this space, as successful truckers don’t just wish themselves there. No, Six Figure Truckers are planners. They go hand in hand. But, as it turns out, there is something else that goes hand in hand with good planning. Patience. When a good plan goes up in smoke due to forces outside one’s control, their response is as important as their plan. If “a goal without a plan is just a wish,” a plan without patience is a powder keg. Countless variables in this business of trucking can disrupt a plan, but the key question is this: will they disrupt your peace?

Road rage is a problem, and it’s growing. EP33: Successful Truckers Play Chess with Eugene Isaac

Successful drivers play chess, not checkers. No, we’re not talking about moving little wooden pieces on cardboard. We’re talking about moving trucks all over our beautiful country, and those who do it best have a plan. Long before they slide behind the wheel, the best drivers have been crafting a detailed plan. They know where they’re going and how they’re going to get there. They have a strategy for fuel, food, lodging, and transportation. They’ve factored in time for delays and inspections. Thus, they’re rarely surprised and always on time. They don’t merely show up and react. No, they don’t play checkers. The most successful drivers play chess. They show up with a plan, execute it with precision, and bring home the Queen’s ransom to boot. We’re pleased to have an over-the-road Chessmaster with us on today’s episode. Eugene Isaac is a ten-year veteran in trucking and a driver who has learned the art of preparation. He’s a man with a plan you can learn from on this episode of the #SixFigureTrucker.

EP26: Toes In The Sand and Wisdom in Hand with Mike Kolody

It has been said that “In school, you’re taught a lesson, and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches the lesson.” Our guest today has faced his share of tests and has masters-level lessons to share. There were numerous sleepless nights when as a business owner in this industry, he had over a million dollars worth of debt on trucks he couldn’t move. Then there were sleepless nights of a different kind when battling an aggressive form of cancer. These are the kind of tests that can either make or break you. They made Mike Kolody, and we’re thrilled to have him on the show today. Mike is an expert driver and trainer who’s seen it all on the open road. He’s learned what makes the business go, to the tune of six figures. But, he’s also learned how to make those figures work for him, to the tune of ten toes in the sand. He’s a top-shelf businessman who’s also been accused of being a beach bum – an accusation he and his family don’t dispute. On today’s episode of the Six-Figure Trucker, you’ll hear Mike’s story and walk away with a truckload of help and inspiration for the road ahead.

EP25: Into The Great White North With Phillip Knowles

We hate to burst your bubble, but all those millions of Christmas presents aren’t actually delivered in one night by a big guy in a red suit while riding a sleigh pulled by eight magic reindeer. In the real world, millions of packages of Christmas cheer are delivered by truck drivers pulled by 600 horses on 18 wheels. The men and women of trucking have long been the undervalued heroes of Christmas. One trucker took it to a whole new level when trucking shortages hit during the COVID-19 pandemic. When Phillip Knowles identified that U-Haul trucks in Canada had become available, he decided to help transport them stateside for use by UPS. So he drove them across the border one at a time and then would literally walk back into Canada to find transportation to another truck to transport. He transported dozens of trucks, which in turn delivered thousands of presents that brought smiles to children all across the Pacific Northwest. And that is how one trucker helped save Christmas!

EP16: What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger with Armahn Britt

“You are driving the wrong truck!” No truck driver ever wants to hear those chilling words. That’s the stuff of nightmares. But, our guest today wasn’t dreaming when he heard that line from a dispatcher, and he was already 800 miles down a snow-covered highway. The VIN he had checked was off by a single digit – the last one – a single digit that brought Armahn Britt to the brink. It had already been a rough day inside a rough season, and now he faced the reality of driving 800 miles back to the place of origin with no reward of a paycheck at the end of it. He wanted to quit. But, moments like these separate the professionals from the amateurs. It’s moments like these where someone either rises or breaks down. Armahn rose. That’s who Armahn is, and he’s stronger and wiser for having gone through this moment and others like it. You’re in for a treat as we sit down with this driveaway veteran who is full of stories to tell and wisdom to convey on this week’s episode of #SixFigureTrucker.
