EP63: Open Roads, Open Heart: The Free-Spirited Driveaway Life of Chris Woods

Today’s guest saw Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead live in concert when he was sixteen. Chris Woods was hooked. He would tell you that everything you need to know in life can be found in the lyrics of a Grateful Dead song. His obsession as a “Deadhead” eventually led him on tour to follow other classic jam bands like Fish and Widespread Panic. So,  to hear that Chris Woods is a free spirit with an affinity for open roads should come as no surprise. And when he was introduced to Driveaway, it was a match made in heaven. In Driveaway, Chris has found the pace he’s always craved to prioritize time with his family and carve out space for his side gig as a professional artist. And as a tow-behind specialist, he’s even found a way to maximize his time and profits. Is it any wonder that the “Deadhead” gets great sleep in his Jeep? Don’t miss a minute of this fascinating conversation with Chris Woods on the #SixFigureTrucker.

EP62: Beach Chairs & Big Rigs: Franklin Snooks’ Driveaway Adventure

If Franklin Snooks had his way, he’d take in the setting sun from a beach chair rather than through the windshield of a truck. He’d quickly trade the aroma of diesel for the smells of a low-country boil of blue crab. He wouldn’t think twice about swapping the open roads for his happy place along the eastern seaboard. A native of the historic harbor city of Charleston, Franklin is often gone to Carolina in his mind. And in Driveaway, he has found his ticket home. Driving trucks has been his gig since the nineties, but his recent return to the Driveaway space with Norton Transport has been a game-changer. This career behind the wheel affords him more scheduling freedom and flexibility than he could ever have imagined. Tune in to hear Franklin’s journey to freedom in the lucrative and flexible world of Driveaway on today’s episode of the #SixFigureTrucker.

EP57: Ghosts and Grit: Supernatural Tales and Trustworthy Tips with Arnie Teran

You’d think it might be difficult to trust a guy who swears to have seen an actual ghost on the road. And to be clear, that’s exactly what today’s guest claims. On a stretch of freeway reported to be haunted, Arnie Teran insists that his lights flickered and then momentarily went dark. When his high beams returned, an apparition in a red dress was directly in front of him, hovering over the highway ahead. Who is this Arnie Teran, you ask? Well, he’s not the kind to be loose with the truth or exaggerate a story. Arnie Teran is one of the most trustworthy drivers we know. In fact, in this conversation, he’ll tell us that the surest way to build trust is to always keep your word. Arnie tells it like it is as he shares valuable advice and great stories from his 22 years behind the wheel. Do you like to make money?” His answer was, “Yes, yes, and Yes!” The advertisement was from a Georgia-based company called Norton Transport, and as they say, the rest is history. Though we unashamedly extoll the life-changing opportunities within driveaway trucking on this podcast, we also seek to reflect on the challenges that surface in this industry. Our guest today has learned to invoke what he calls the Serenity Prayer in moments of misfortune or frustration. As a result, Marvin Miller says that his glass is never half-empty. EP47: Killin’ it with Kindness with Abdur Martin

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” This saying rings true in this space, as successful truckers don’t just wish themselves there. No, Six Figure Truckers are planners. They go hand in hand. But, as it turns out, there is something else that goes hand in hand with good planning. Patience. When a good plan goes up in smoke due to forces outside one’s control, their response is as important as their plan. If “a goal without a plan is just a wish,” a plan without patience is a powder keg. Countless variables in this business of trucking can disrupt a plan, but the key question is this: will they disrupt your peace?

EP35: It’s Game Time with Eddie Bray

Huddle up! Every fan of the game of Football knows those two words and their importance. In the huddle, reminders are given, a play is called, and game faces are applied. EP34: Join The Club with Terry Scott

Road rage is a problem, and it’s growing. A recent study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Commission (NHTSA) found that fatal road rage-related car accidents grew 500% in just nine years between 2006 and 2015. Unfortunately, that number continues to climb. Over 80% of drivers surveyed in 2019 admitted to an outburst of road rage at least once in the previous year. But we’re thankful that our guest today proves to be an exception. Terry Scott has learned the art of keeping cool on highways full of bad drivers and worse attitudes. He is passionate about saying that you can’t get upset about what you can’t control. His mantra is, “You’ve got to join the club.” To find out what he means by that, tune in to today’s episode of the #SixFigureTrucker.

EP33: Successful Truckers Play Chess with Eugene Isaac

Successful drivers play chess, not checkers. No, we’re not talking about moving little wooden pieces on cardboard. We’re talking about moving trucks all over our beautiful country, and those who do it best have a plan. Long before they slide behind the wheel, the best drivers have been crafting a detailed plan. They know where they’re going and how they’re going to get there. They have a strategy for fuel, food, lodging, and transportation. They’ve factored in time for delays and inspections. Thus, they’re rarely surprised and always on time. They don’t merely show up and react. No, they don’t play checkers. The most successful drivers play chess. They show up with a plan, execute it with precision, and bring home the Queen’s ransom to boot. We’re pleased to have an over-the-road Chessmaster with us on today’s episode. Eugene Isaac is a ten-year veteran in trucking and a driver who has learned the art of preparation. He’s a man with a plan you can learn from on this episode of the #SixFigureTrucker.

In life, you’re given a test that teaches the lesson.” Our guest today has faced his share of tests and has masters-level lessons to share. There were numerous sleepless nights when as a business owner in this industry, he had over a million dollars worth of debt on trucks he couldn’t move. EP25: Into The Great White North With Phillip Knowles

We hate to burst your bubble, but all those millions of Christmas presents aren’t actually delivered in one night by a big guy in a red suit while riding a sleigh pulled by eight magic reindeer. In the real world, millions of packages of Christmas cheer are delivered by truck drivers pulled by 600 horses on 18 wheels. The men and women of trucking have long been the undervalued heroes of Christmas. One trucker took it to a whole new level when trucking shortages hit during the COVID-19 pandemic. When Phillip Knowles identified that U-Haul trucks in Canada had become available, he decided to help transport them stateside for use by UPS. So he drove them across the border one at a time and then would literally walk back into Canada to find transportation to another truck to transport. He transported dozens of trucks, which in turn delivered thousands of presents that brought smiles to children all across the Pacific Northwest. And that is how one trucker helped save Christmas!

EP24: From Broke to Financial Freedom with Bryan Bonar

He was broke. So broke that he had to quit smoking just to have enough money to eat. But, just two weeks shy of declaring bankruptcy, our guest today made the change of his life.
